INGREDIENTS (2 servings):

2 cooked octopus tentacles el Rey del Pulpo.
1 package of corn tortillas.
2 avocados.
1 red onion.
1 lime.
1 tomato.
1 fresh red chili pepper (optional).
Fresh cilantro, minced.
Olive oil.

  • On the one hand, make the pico de gallo with avocado. Slice the avocado flesh, red onion and tomato into odd-sized chunks and mix them together in a bowl, as well as a splash of lime juice, minced fresh cilantro and salt.
  • Then, slice the octopus into small pieces and heat them in a frying pan with a little olive oil.
  • In another frying pan without oil, heat the corn tortillas for 1 minute on each side. Place them on a dish towel and cover to keep them warm.
  • To assemble the octopus taco, fold the tortilla, place the octopus filling inside and top with the pico de gallo with avocado.
  • If you want to spice it up, add a few slivers of red chili pepper on top.

There are times when removing the flesh from an avocado can be risky business.

Here’s how to do it safely and easily.

First, slice the avocado in half and gently twist each half using one hand to separate them from each other. Tap the pit with a knife with enough force so that the knife edge wedges into the pit, twist the pit out of the avocado and discard. Next, use a spoon to scoop the flesh out of the skin of the avocado.

If you like it hot, you can accompany tacos with a Mexican sauce such as ranchero sauce or serrano chile green sauce. Nowadays, it’s possible to find many of these sauces in many supermarkets.

Accompany spectacular Mexican food with a michelada. It’s the most famous cocktail in Mexico, and it’s made with beer, lime, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce.
