BAKED POTATO AND OCTOPUS PIE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients for four people:

1 tray of cooked octopus from el Rey del Pulpo
4 potatoes
1 tablespoon of butter
1/2 glass of milk
2 eggs
Grated cheese for gratin
Black pepper
Virgin Olive Oil
Sweet paprika de La Vera
Salt

HOW TO PREPARE

  • To start with our potato and octopus pie recipe, wash the potatoes and cook them in a pot with water and a little salt. When it starts boiling, let them cook for approximately 25 minutes. Before removing them from the pot, check with a knife they are tender and well done.
  • Once ready, let them cool a little and peel them. Mash with the help of a fork. Ideally, use a potato masher as they should be well smashed.
  • Add the butter, milk and a little black pepper and mix all the ingredients well. It should be a smooth mashed puree but a little thick. Add salt and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, heat water in a pot to cook the eggs. When the water starts boiling, add the eggs for 10 minutes. Once cooked, cool, peel and chop.
  • Remove the cooked octopus from El Rey del Pulpo from its tray and cut into slices.
  • Next, grease a glass baking dish with a bit of butter and place half of the mashed potato on it.
  • Add the octopus slices on top and also the eggs. Sprinkle a little bit of sweet paprika de la Vera and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and cover with the rest of the mashed potatoes.
  • Sprinkle with a little grated cheese and gratinate in a preheated oven at 180ºC for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!

TIPS FOR PREPARING THE PERFECT MASHED POTATOES

To prepare a delicious mashed potato, it is important to cook the potatoes without peeling them, so that the potato does not lose its properties. It is also important that the potatoes are of good quality and of similar size.

Depending on the size and variety of the potatoes, the cooking time varies from 20 to 45 minutes.

You can add more ingredients to this delicious potato and octopus pie. For example, some cooked peas, a tin of tuna… Another option for our cake is to cover it with mayonnaise and gratin it.
