Lasagna is a dish everyone loves and is extremely easy to prepare. There are hundreds of different kinds of lasagna, however, one that is simple, quick to prepare and different from the rest is octopus lasagna, particularly if you make it with cooked octopus. We will teach you the recipe step-by-step.

Step-by-step octopus lasagna recipe

Ingredients:

Ingredients (4 servings):

3 pre-cooked octopus legs el Rey del Pulpo

1 medium-sized onion

1 small leek

2 cloves of garlic (optional)

1 carrot (optional)

1 can of and tomato puree and two large tomatoes

1 cube of fish stock (optional)

5 tablespoons of flour

1 liter of whole milk

100 grams of butter

7 – 8 tablespoons of olive oil

12 sheets of instant lasagna or lasagna

Grated melting cheese

Nutmeg, salt and pepper

Chopped parsley

 

Method of preparation:

  • Cutthe octopus into pieces and chop up the vegetables. Add pepper and salt.
  • Slowfry the vegetables in the olive oil until they are slightly browned.
  • Add the cooked octopus and stir. Don´t let it fry for too long to ensure it doesn´t harden.
  • Add the tomato puree or grated tomatoes and a ground cube of fish stock if you wish for additional flavor. Slow-fry the tomato.
  • Make a bechamel sauce while you´re waiting. Place a little butter in a saucepan and let it melt. Then add the flour and stir it to enable it to cool a little and ensure the bechamel sauce doesn´t taste of raw flour. Add a little salt, a pinch of nutmeg and the freshly ground black pepper. Add the warm milk little by little while stirring it with a mixing stick.
  • Cook the sheets of lasagna or immerse them in hot water if you are using instant lasagna.
  • You can now start assembling the lasagna. Place a layer of lasagna sheets in a large bowl. Then add a layer of onion and garlic sauce and another layer of lasagna sheets. You can add as many layers as you wish.
  • Finish your lasagna by topping it with plenty of melted grated melting cheese.
  • Place it in an oven preheated to 180 ºC for ten minutes or until the cheese melts.
  • Decorate your lasagna with a little chopped parsley.

A few tricks and tips for the preparation of cooked octopus lasagna

You will be able to prepare a variety of different lasagnas based on this recipe. You can add other fish and shellfish such as prawns, clams and hake.

If you wish to give your octopus lasagna a little extra flavor, add capers, oregano and black olives.

When cooking sheets of instant lasagna, place cling film between them before placing them in the water to ensure they don´t stick together. If you don´t have any cling film, grease them with olive oil or butter.

To ensure your bechamel sauce isn´t lumpy, add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients, and never the other way round. Don´t forget to add these ingredients gradually. It is also important you use mixing sticks when cooking, and never a spoon or fork.

You can give bechamel sauce some extra flavor. You can add oregano, basil, fresh or dry parsley, truffle or mix a little olive oil into the butter.

f you wish to spice up your lasagna, put a little Vera paprika in the garlic and onion sauce. You can also place marinated paprika with a little olive oil on the lasagna when it´s ready
