It’s a healthy dish that’s quick and easy to make aside from being well-balanced. This is why we suggest preparing this version using octopus as the main ingredient.

  • Base: This dish mainly starts with a base layer of rice and/or quinoa.
  • Fish/Seafood: This is the main ingredient and the protein source. Generally, chunks of marinated raw fish are used, although poke bowls can also be prepared using cooked ingredients, such as this recipe.
  • Accompaniment: Vegetables or fruits are typically added. The most common are: onion or chive, carrot, avocado, cucumber, tomato, seeds, etc.
  • Dressing: For the dressing, popular choices include soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, wasabi, ponzu sauce, sesame, oil, etc.

Ingredients for 2 servings:

2 precooked octopus tentacles el Rey del Pulpo

3 medium radishes150 g of basmati rice per person

100 g of edamame

1 mango

1 small cucumber

2 tablespoons of black sesame seeds

3 tablespoons of soy sauce

4 tablespoons of sesame oil

3 tablespoons of rice vinegar

1 teaspoon of brown sugar

To prepare basmati rice:

  • Start by cooking the rice. For this recipe, you need the rice to be loose, which is why basmati is a good choice. Place the rice in a strainer and rinse well with cold water.
  • Then, in a pot with a splash of sunflower oil, sauté the rice for 1 minute and add 350 ml of water. Season to taste and leave to cook for 15 minutes on moderate to low heat.
  • Once cooked, spread the rice on a dish to cool it and use it in the octopus poke bowl.

Meanwhile, cook edamame according to the instructions on the package. Once cooked, it will be necessary to shell the beans.

Next, cut the precooked octopus tentacles, cucumber and radishes into slices. Slice the mango into thin strips, and prepare the dressing.

For the sauce, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil and rice vinegar together.

To plate the poke bowl:

  • To serve the poke bowl, place the cooked rice at the bottom of the bowls. Divide the octopus, mango, red radishes, cucumber and edamame over the rice.
  • Dress it with the sauce that you prepared beforehand.
  • And lastly, decorate it with black sesame seeds before serving.

If you choose to prepare it using raw fish, we recommend marinating it beforehand.

It’s important for the raw materials used to prepare this dish to be of the highest quality, as practically no cooking is required, therefore they will have a great impact on how the dish will turn out.
