Receta de Pizza con Pulpo

Making a good pizza using homemade dough is actually very simple. You only have to use quality ingredients and have a little bit of time. In this recipe, you’ll find all the steps, whether you decide to knead it yourself or you choose to make the dough using a Thermomix. Although if you’re short on time, you can always use a ready rolled pizza dough that you can find at any supermarket or bakery.

Ingredients for 2 servings:

1 medium package of cooked octopus el Rey del Pulpo.
1 small can of raw tomato purée.
1 package of shredded four cheese blend.
6 cherry tomatoes.
1 small can of cooked rapini.
6 shrimps.

For the dough:
150 g of lukewarm water.
10 g of extra virgin olive oil.
5 g of sugar.
10 g of fresh yeast.
5 g of salt.
300 g bread flour.

  • Start by making the dough for the octopus pizza as you have to leave it to rise.
  • Place the flour in a bowl and make a well in the center. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. Add it to the well, together with the oil, sugar and salt.
  • Mix until well combined and turn onto a clean worktop. Knead for approximately 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic (you can add a little flour if the dough sticks to the worktop).
  • Shape into a ball, place in a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap or a damp dish towel. Set aside to prove for more or less 1 hour.
  • Lightly sprinkle the worktop with flour and place the ball of dough. Roll it out using a rolling pin until very thin.
  • Another alternative is to use your hands. To do this, flatten the ball a little using your palms and stretch it out using your outstretched fingers, pressing down and stretching the pizza dough. This way, you can leave the edge slightly thicker.
  • Preheat oven to 200 ºC and finish the octopus pizza by adding the ingredients. First spread a little tomato purée and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  • Cut the el Rey del Pulpo precooked octopus into coarse slices and place them on top of the cheese.
  • Drain the rapini, shell and wash the shrimps, slice the cherry tomatoes in half, and scatter across the octopus pizza.
  • Bake for 15 minutes… and enjoy!

If you have a Thermomix at home, you can make the pizza dough using the Thermomix to make things even simpler:

  1. Add the ingredients to the Thermomix bowl in this order: water, olive oil, sugar, yeast, flour and salt.
  2. Knead until smooth for 3 min using the kneading function with the lid securely locked in place.
  3. Then, form a ball with the dough and follow the same steps as above to prove the dough.

One way to find out how much time to leave the dough to rise: place a piece of dough in a glass with some water. It will sink to the bottom. If it floats, it means that the dough is ready.

You can also put some chili oil to it to spice it up. Just add a splash once the pizza comes out of the oven.

Go for the healthy choice and prepare your favorite meals with octopus. Try the octopus burger that is virtually fat-free, yet flavorful and rich in high-quality proteins. There’s also octopus lasagna, which is definitely different and perfect for pasta lovers.
